Why these products together

One site. Two viewpoints that fill different gaps.

01

XGRIDS

Reach the accessible ground spaces

XGRIDS Lixel L2 Pro
XGRIDS Lixel L2 Pro

Walk the L2 Pro through interiors and accessible exterior areas to document geometry and detail along the capture route.

02

DJI

Add the roof and wider surroundings

DJI Matrice 4E
DJI Matrice 4E

Matrice 4E captures aerial images from suitable viewpoints beyond the walking route, adding roof and wider site context.

What the combination gives you

Choose equipment around the spaces your deliverable must cover.

  • Indoor and ground-level detail
  • Aerial roof and site context
  • A defined, complementary coverage plan

These are separate capture tools. A combined dataset needs supported processing, planned overlap and appropriate control.

The problems this setup addresses

A walking route cannot see every roofAdd the missing viewpoint

How the benefit is achieved

Matrice 4E provides aerial images of appropriate roof and exterior areas, while L2 Pro documents accessible ground spaces.

Aerial images miss accessible interior detailCapture from inside the site

How the benefit is achieved

L2 Pro adds handheld scanning along a planned route, including spaces that require ground access.

Separate teams may deliver disconnected filesDefine the handoff before capture

How the benefit is achieved

Agree coverage, control, coordinates and output formats first. Evaluate alignment or fusion only with a supported processing workflow.

The combination, explained

Viewpoint illustration, not an actual project result. Ground and aerial datasets can be delivered separately. A combined scene requires a validated capture and processing plan.

Illustrative workflow

Example: documenting a venue and its surroundings

Walk the accessible interior and exterior with L2 Pro, then capture suitable roof and surrounding views with the aircraft. Review overlap and data quality before processing the agreed outputs for the client.

Best fit

AEC, property, venue and digital-twin projects requiring complementary indoor and outdoor coverage.

Already own equipment?

For a one-time project, ask DRT to scope capture and processing services. If you already own a scanner or aircraft, build the plan around that equipment first.

Workflow illustration

How the workflow comes together.

  1. 01

    Scope the outputs

Agree whether you need engineering point clouds, a photorealistic scene, or both.

  2. 02

    Plan shared coverage

Set control, coordinate system, overlap and timing before either capture.

  3. 03

    Capture each viewpoint

Use the scanner for accessible ground spaces and the aircraft for appropriate aerial viewpoints.

  4. 04

    Process & validate

Check dataset quality, software support and alignment before the agreed handoff.

Choose your setup.

Start with the two products below, or ask DRT to scope capture and processing as a service. The final proposal identifies licenses, control and deliverables.

Questions before choosing the setup

Will the scanner and drone automatically create one model?

No. Separate datasets are the starting point. Fusion or alignment depends on software support, licenses, source data, overlap and control.

Do I need a point cloud or a Gaussian splat?

A point cloud is commonly used for geometry workflows; a Gaussian splat is a photorealistic scene format. Define measurement and presentation needs before choosing the processing path.

Can DRT help with capture and processing?

Ask for a scoped service proposal specifying the site, outputs, accuracy needs and schedule. Equipment and service pricing are separate unless quoted together.

A good setup starts with the right checks.
  • A combined hardware purchase does not automatically include aerial-ground fusion. Confirm current software version, license and supported source data with DRT.
  • Point clouds, meshes and Gaussian splats serve different purposes; choose deliverables before choosing a license.
  • Aircraft, scanner, processing software and DRT capture services are separate line items unless explicitly quoted together.
  • This is a complementary capture workflow. No direct hardware connection between scanner and aircraft is required for separate captures.
